 Never thrown a yo-yo before? This is the section for you, all these yo-yos will be the easiest to learn the basics with, generally all of these yo-yos have a fixed axle meaning they wont 'sleep' (spin at the bottom of the string) for a long time. Some of these yo-yos will have a clutch system so that they will return to your hand automatically. |
 Yo-yos for basic string tricks, these yo-yos have a slightly wider axle, but are still responsive, i.e. they will return easily when you tug the string. |
 Advanced yo-yos, perfect for advanced string tricks. These yo-yos have a wider axle / string gap and may require binding to return them. Binding is a technique used for all unresponsive yoyos which involves winding a loop of excess string around the gap of the yo-yo making it snag and return to the hand. These yo-yos are competition standard. |
 These yo-yos are mainly suited to the 2A-style of play, where the player has 1 yo-yo on each hand, and uses various looping tricks. These yo-yos can be used by themselves, but would be considered Intermediate 1A. |
 These yo-yos are for playing off-string, meaning that the yo-yo is not attached. Many tricks are similar to diabolo as you can throw the yo-yo and catch it again. This style opens up many new possibilities. Off string yoyos require a similar technique to binding to make them return. |
 These yo-yos are for the freehand style of play, where the string isn't attached to your finger, and instead a counter-weight would be attached. This opens up again a lot of different possibilities, the counterweight can passed from hand to hand and swung in different directions around the yo-yo to create all new mounts / string positions. This style can be achieved with both responsive and unresponsive yo-yos |
