Gora Fire Sword

Gora Fire Sword Zoom

Gora Fire Sword

This is the original Gora Fire Sword, first created in 2003. It has a beautiful flame, is durable and light.

The "blade" is covered with 1.5 meters of kevlar wick.

The handle is made from rubber and finished with a round knob allowing swinging movements. The silicone hand guard protects your hands from the heat, stops paraffin running on to the handle and also gives the sword a more authentic look.
The core is made from fibre glass making it flexible and durable

The Fire Sword is best used for dancing and swinging style moves, or to act out a fight. It is also suitable for throwing type tricks, but if this is your specialty, we recommend you go for the Flying Sword.

The core of the Fire Sword is a 10 mm fiber glass rod. The handles start with a 40 mm wooden ball knob followed by a soft spongy EPDM tube grip. A silicone disc acts as a shield to protect your hands and arms from the flames.

The tip of the blade is wrapped by a 25 mm reinforced kevlar wick to protect from abrasion. If this part is damaged, we recommend you don’t use the sword until it is replaced as this part is much easier to repair.

With the optional magnetic connection you can connect two swords and use them like a huge staff to truly surprise your audience! If you choose a connector, it also includes the second fire sword. The magnetic connection is really handy and easy to fix and release on the stage. You can use your sword-staff to spin softly, but please be aware that a heavy swing may cause the connector to release!

The weight of a fire sword is 355g, and a pair of swords with magnetic connection is 750g.

Feel the force and have a safe fight!

Recommendations for use:

Have cooling down breaks and stops. Too much heat breaks the fiberglass!

Do not hit each other, only dance, throw or imitate the fight.

Do not keep the swords downwards continuously.

Don't put it on the ground while burning.

Use lower heat level liquids like paraffin, lamp oil or barbecue oil. Do not use white spirit or benzene.

Price is for one sword.

Overall this is a great product, however, there are a few issues with the operation of the sword. For example: applying fuel to the wick can be tricky although this can be overcome be using plumbing pipe with a cap on the bottom to prevent leaking, another issue is the size of the flame created when lighting the sword, the hand guard could sometimes do with being abit wider so your hand has better protection, but after a few use's you become accustomed to it.
Apart from those couple of issue's, this has been a brilliant prop and a great addition to our show. (Posted on 03/11/2017)

    2. I love these swords.... Review by Jake Matthews

I love these swords. They're GREAT! They look awesome and do exactly what they say on the tin.

To overcome the fueling issue use a paraffin based gel. You can get it online for about £8. Or from garden centres/hardware stores.

I apply to the wick and rub it in using a towel.

A nice thick coating gives a lovely burn of about 3 minutes. (Posted on 03/11/2017)

    3. you get some nice lo... Review by Andrew Dilley

you get some nice long burns with this one, however soaking can be a problem. the handle looks flimsy but once you start moving with it you'll realise is solid inside. the centre balance point is a couple inches into the flame so it doesn't handle like a proper sword as such but due to the club like design it gets some nice effect and as long as you dont smash each other with any real intent you could more than have duels with these. like always Gora make quality merch (Posted on 12/04/2011)
